30 year old female, Mrs. N. S., with black hair and big eyes, came with complaints of eruptions on the face that had been diagnosed as Molluscum Contagiosum. Previously, she had got them burnt / cauterized, but they recurred after some time. She had a lot of itching, mostly on jaw line.
She also had complaints of recurrent colds since 3-4 months. Along with the cold, she would develop ear blockage and get the echo of her own voice. She would get cold every month before her menses.
The patient would also develop severe abdominal pain during her periods. The pain would last for few hours but was so severe that she had to take painkiller injections, which not necessarily would relieve the pain. She used to cry from pain and no posture would give her any relief.
She had developed severe knee pain since one month and she used to get the pain whenever she would exert.
As a person she was extrovert, fun loving and talkative by nature. She would mix easily with people and had many friends. She was impulsive and would get irritated very easily on trivial things and would snap and frown. Even if she knew she was wrong, she would keep frowning; she would want her husband to console and pamper her.
Mrs. NS was good at managerial skills and loved to allot work to others. She was very good in studies. She was a Commerce graduate and also had a degree in IATA (Travel and Tourism). Since she was very ambitious and she did not want to sit at home but wanted to work and to be recognized in the world as an individual.
The patient said she had major differences of opinion with her husband and had a love and hate relationship with him. She had a son aged 2 years. She did not get along well with her mother-in-law and would get very agitated in her presence. All this made her feel very frustrated and angry.
She had a normal appetite; she would occasionally smoke and drink. She had great desire for sweets and jaggery and no particular dislikes about food. She would frequently dream of falling and this would cause her to wake up with a jerk.
Her hair was rough and she had extra hair growth on her body. She had bilateral pedal edema.
Based on the above case details, she was prescribed Medorrhinum 30 for her complaints of Molluscum Contagiosum. She reported a week later feeling more relaxed and less irritable than before; the lesions of Molluscum were the same as before. Another week later, her lesions of Molluscum had increased in number. This phenomenon continued for some time; she started getting anxious about the increase but she was asked to hold on for some more time. Some weeks later, she reported that the older lesions had started breaking up after started molluscum treatment. She started feeling more confident about the molluscum treatment now. Her molluscum treatment was continued on similar lines and about 3 weeks later, she was completely free of the lesions. Her molluscum treatment was discontinued thereafter.
